Bulldawg Illustrated has tackled the world of social media.

Wondering exactly what social media is? Social media can take many forms online. Current platforms include blogs (Blogger and Wordpress), video sharing (YouTube and Vimeo), social networking (Facebook and MySpace), microblogging (Twitter), and photo sharing (Flickr and Picasa) to just name a few.

But no matter the platform, the common thread is about humans being human online. The outlet allows for people to share ideas, collaborate, debate, share, and engage in conversation. It is important for businesses to be where the conversation is so that they can connect with their public. Connecting is what's important. The arena is not appropriate for marketing speak and self-promotion.

Bulldawg illustrated is doing a great job keeping up with their participation in the online communities where they have created a presence.

For example:

'Dawg Blog
Bulldawg Illustrated has consistently been blogging every day. By adding new content to their site they keep people coming back for more. They are also "casting a wide net" and diversifying their content so they can easily be found on a variety of search queries from people using search engines.

If they didn't have a blog, they would have missed out on the 4,642 unique page views, 70 comments, and 174 poll participants those pages yielded this month.

Twitter
Twitter is a microblogging services that asks the question, "What are you doing?" It gives you 140 characters to answer this question, but brands are now using it to connect with current and potential customers. Bulldawg Illustrated uses it to meet new people and to announce blog posts. They currently have 247 followers (or friends) and the number is growing.

Facebook
Facebook is another place Bulldawg Illustrated is connecting with "friends." They currently have 1322 members to their group "Friends of Bulldawg Illustrated." That is 1322 more people they can directly connect with that are interested in what they have to offer.

YouTube
Bulldawg Illustrated has made videos of sports commentary, interviews, and mascot footage and uploaded this content to their YouTube channel. They can embed these videos to their actual site, and have them hosted on their channel. The videos will potentially appear in Google's search results pages because they are on YouTube, and will create interest on their site.

While this is a lot to keep up with, Bulldawg Illustrated is doing a great job of participating online. They truly understand the importance of creating quality content and adding value to the online conversation rather than to just create profiles online and let them lay dormant.
