Stephanie Sharp, President of Plexus Web Creations, will serve as the newest member of the Jeanette Rankin Foundation Board of Directors.

The Jeannette Rankin Foundation is an organization that supports low-income women, ages 35 and older, who are motivated to change their lives through education. JRF was founded in 1976 with $16,000 provided by a bequest left by Jeannette Rankin, the first woman elected to U.S. Congress. The endowment is now valued at more than $700,000.

JRF awards grants to women who have a vision of how an education will benefit themselves, their families and their communities. The grants are not restricted to tuition, but may be used for books, transportation, childcare, or other living expenses to support the recipient toward her educational goals. In 1978, the first grant was awarded to one woman in the amount of $500.

The Jeannette Rankin Foundation honors the name and legacy of an American woman of incredible spirit and determination by providing much needed aid to women with similar attributes.

Sharp was raised in Warner Robins, Georgia, a small military town in Central Georgia. She started her college years at Macon College, a small two-year college in Macon and graduated in 1991. She was then accepted in the Terry School of Business at The University of Georgia, where she received a degree in Accounting in the spring of 1994. While she was in the accounting program at UGA, she worked at Athens Technical College (ATC), where she served as assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. One of her first projects was to develop a Web site for ATC. It was at that moment her career in Web development was launched. From ATC, she moved to a position as Web Manager at the Georgia Division for Public Health (GDPH), where she served as Webmaster.

In 1997, Stephanie started Plexus Web Creations, a firm that provides a comprehensive suite of Web design and development services for attorneys, physicians, schools, universities, realtors, developers, recruiters, public utilities, retailers, wholesalers, and other businesses. Plexus' revenues have grown 10-fold since the first year in business. Today, Plexus has serviced nearly 400 clients in their ten-year history and grown to a staff of nine full-time associates with more than 50 years of combined experience. Members of the Plexus team are among the most knowledgeable and experienced in the region.
