Plexus Web Creations was privileged to partner with developer Matt Taylor to help him design the identity and Web site for the first of its kind all-student housing neighborhood in Clemson, South Carolina.
Matt, the creator of Chimney Ridge of Clemson came to us months before the ground breaking of his project that includes 177 four-bedroom, detached homes and community amenities such as an oversized putting green, pool and clubhouse lodge.
"The process was so smooth," Matt said. "I was initially presented with several unique options for the logo that conveyed what the neighborhood offers. From there, we refined the design and in no time, business cards were printed, construction signs were fabricated and my site was underway."
Plexus Creative Director Kim Landrum utilized colors rich in earth tones and drew from Chimney Ridge’s natural setting to create the logo and overall aesthetic for the project. "The broad concept is reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest. The color palette, paper selection and treatment of graphical elements support the rustic nature of the project and architectural details – particularly the use of materials which are wood and stacked stone" said Kim.
Once the look was established, Plexus moved on to the Web site. "We had photographer Terry Allen shoot a fireplace scene to highlight a feature that will be offered with each home and in the clubhouse lodge", added Kim. "That image served as a anchor for the front page of the site, and visual centerpiece for our newspaper and magazine advertising."
Once Plexus outlined the navigation and wrote the content, the site began to take shape. The primary function of the site was to provide a resource for students, parents and investors to view the various home styles, floor plans and amenities.
A great deal of thought went into how to promote the site once it was live. Plexus listed it with Google, Facebook and Craig’s List to ensure market saturation. After the site was launched, other materials followed such as newspaper and magazine ads, billboards and printed materials including a folder system with inserts and a general brochure for sales purposes.
"Our team was so pleased to work on this project," said Plexus Chief Stephanie Sharp. "Matt Taylor was articulate in what he was looking for, while giving our team the creative license to generate work that was both anchored in design principle and conveyed the correct marketing message." Adds Kim, "Matt was everything a client should be. He stated his expectations upfront and afforded us the freedom to execute his vision."
"Word about Chimney Ridge has traveled fast in the Clemson community," said Matt. community "We’ve already sold at least a dozen homes and construction hasn’t even begun." He added, "I think the success is partly due to the fact that this development will be the first all-detached house student community of its kind in Clemson, but also because of my affiliation with Plexus. I’m extremely pleased with professional image Plexus has helped me create. It truly conveys the spirit of my project and I couldn’t be happier with the results!"
Grading is currently underway at Chimney Ridge. Construction is slated to start in early 2007 with a completion date set for summer, just in time for fall move-in for the 2007-2008 school year.
